Heritage Highlights 2018

Abraham never wavered in believing God’s promise. In fact, his faith grew stronger, and in this he brought glory to God. He was fully convinced that God is able to do whatever he promises. And because of Abraham’s faith, God counted him as righteous. And when God counted him as righteous, it wasn’t just for Abraham’s benefit. It was recorded for our benefit, too, assuring us that God will also count us as righteous if we believe in him, the one who raised Jesus our Lord from the dead.  Romans 4:20-24 NLT

January/February/March 2018 Heritage Highlights

Now we beseech you, brethren, by the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, and by our gathering together unto him, that ye be not soon shaken in mind, or be troubled, neither by spirit, nor by word, nor by letter as from us, as that the day of Christ is at hand. Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition; 2 Thessalonians 2:1-3 (KJV)

“To know God as He is, and to not distort the Scriptures, we must reconcile both God’s kindness and His severity in our hearts, seeing Him as He is and not as we may want Him to be. As we mature, we will come to understand that He is perfect, and so are His judgments.

On the 15th, our local paper The Herald published the following article about Jim Bakker:

Fallen PTL preacher Jim Bakker is back with a new message about the Apocalypse – By Tim Funk
February 15, 2018 02:03 PM
BLUE EYE, Mo.

Three decades after his PTL empire near Charlotte crumbled amid financial and sex scandals, Jim Bakker is back on TV with a different, darker message:

The Apocalypse is coming and you better get ready.

Ready to be judged by God, sure. But the main mission of “The Jim Bakker Show” – broadcast from a Christian compound deep in the Ozark Mountains of Missouri – appears to be to sell you fuel-less generators, doomsday guidebooks and freeze-dried food with a shelf-life of up to 30 years.

Bakker, whose co-host is second wife Lori, says stocking up on such survivalist merchandise could keep you alive amid the catastrophes – earthquakes, hurricanes, war, and famine – that some Christians believe are signs that End Times are near.

On the 21st, the Reverend Billy Graham passed away at the age of 99.  Jim Bakker posted the following video and message in remembrance of America’s Pastor;

Franklin Graham visiting Jim in Prison

Today, I was awakened by the sad news that the man who has preached, in person, to more people and won more souls to Jesus Christ than any other man, has died. My friend, Billy Graham, and a friend to millions has gone to be with the Lord today. Billy Graham was born in 1918 and has left this earth today, February 21st, 2018. The year he was born ends with an eight – a number that means a new beginning. Surely, Billy Graham’s birth was a new beginning for the world as he would lead millions to Christ like no other man before him.

Today, in the year 2018 that also ends with an eight, we see not an end, but rather another new beginning – a beginning of an eternity walking with his savior Jesus Christ and meeting millions who he has led to the Savior. Billy Graham walked with and ministered to the leaders of the world. He prayed with every President during his ministry years.

Jim & Lori with Gigi and Ruth Graham at
Ruth’s 80th Birthday

He ministered to everyone, from royalty and to the lowest of the low. I know this because at my lowest moment, Billy Graham walked into my prison, threw his arms around me and said, “Jim, I love you.”

The day before, I had heard that he had been voted one of the top three most respected men in the world and now he was in my prison comforting me. The week I was released from prison, I was sitting in the Graham home eating chicken dinner.

That first Sunday, out of prison, I was surrounded by the Graham family. If there was and is an example of a Godly, Christ-loving family, it is the family that Ruth and Billy raised. That heritage lives on in their children, Franklin, Anne, Ruth, Gigi, and Nelson.

Jim & Lori Laying flowers on
Ruth’s grave at the BillyGraham Library

At this very moment, my heart aches with pain but it also leaps with joy that Billy is
walking with and embracing our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Some believed and have declared that the death of Billy Graham would signal the beginning of the last days.

I don’t know this to be a fact but I do know according to scriptures, we are truly living in the final days before the coming of our Lord, Jesus Christ. Today, Billy Graham died at the age of 99 which is so appropriate as the number nine means fruitfulness. At an age of double fruitfulness, Billy enters heaven, leaving an abundant legacy of fruitfulness that no man has achieved before. Billy often said, “My home is in Heaven. I’m just traveling through this world.” Billy is home. And for that, we rejoice.

Note:  In the 1980’s, Billy Graham’s childhood home located in Charlotte, N.C. was going to be torn down.  When the PTL Ministry learned about this, Pastor Jim Bakker, as a simple gesture of gratitude for all that Evangelist Billy Graham accomplished, made the decision to purchase the home and have it relocated, reconstructed and refurbished as a historical landmark at Heritage USA.  It stood near the front entrance of PTL.  Years later Franklin Graham, Billy Graham’s son, purchased the home and moved it to the Billy Graham Library where it now sits.

On March 2nd, a Memorial Service was held in a large tent across the road from the Billy Graham Library where 2,300 invited guests attended.  The tent represented Rev. Graham’s early beginnings when he held crusades under a large tent.

After the service ended, Rev. Billy Graham was laid to rest next to his wife Ruth Graham, in the “Prayer Garden” on the grounds of the Billy Graham Library located in Charlotte, North Carolina.

On the 15th, The Herald reported: “Jim Bakker’s theme park was like a Christian Disneyland. Here’s what happened to it.”  It was a chilly January night in 1987, and then-PTL president Jim Bakker had invited top leaders from York County to Heritage USA, his Christian theme park in Fort Mill. He wanted to share his dreams for expanding the 2,300-acre complex, which had attracted nearly six million visitors the year before with, among other things, its 52-foot water slide, Bible-based shops along a pretend Main Street and a TV studio spotlighting the talk show that starred Bakker and then-wife Tammy.

NOTE:  In the article, The Herald included an update on the current status of MorningStar Ministries’ court case regarding the Towers, which read in part:

“Joyner has also been tangling for years with the York County Council, which declared in 2013 that MorningStar had defaulted on a development agreement aimed at moving along renovations of the tower.  In turn, MorningStar has sued York County, alleging that the council acted without proper cause, making it difficult to get the financial resources needed to finish the tower.

The county has denied the charges in the lawsuit and called the deteriorating tower a ‘nuisance.’  It won in the circuit court, but MorningStar has appealed to S.C. Court of Appeals, which is set to hear oral arguments in a month or two…..”

Jim Bakker’s Morningside Ministries in Blue Eye, Missouri

Jim Bakker continues to build a new “Hall of the Prophets” TV Studio located in the upper level of the Old Mill Inn warehouse.  The acoustics will be much better for broadcasting and there will be more audience room than Main Street at Morningside now offers.

The ministry is also constructing a Daycare center for the women who already have children who need daycare as they stay in Lori’s House waiting to give birth to another child.

There is more work being done to finish Prayer Mountain, and the ministry is in the process of moving a donated 120-year-old church up to the top of the mountain where people can pray in a picturesque area overlooking the serene mountains in Blue Eye, Missouri.  This church had to be dismantled to carry it to the top of the mountain where it will be reassembled.

Construction is also underway for a new amphitheater that will be located on the grounds of Morningside Ministries, and will be used for concerts and other outdoor events, much like the one that was on the grounds of Heritage USA in the 1980’s.

Upper Room:  From November 5th 2017 through May 27th 2018 Jim Bakker’s 28-hour teaching on the Book of Revelation ended.  Russell James is to be highly commended for showing this series.

In the study of the Book of Revelation, Jim Bakker read every word of each chapter and then explained this often misinterpreted book by taking each word back to the Greek and Hebrew, dispelling the confusion that often comes with trying to figure out what it says.

This in-depth teaching of the Book of Revelation by Pastor Bakker has been shown in churches throughout the country and is often presented at Bible studies.

God Bless Russell for being a part of spreading this important message about the End Times.

Blessed is he that readeth, and they that hear the words of this prophecy, and keep those things which are written therein: for the time is at hand.   Revelation 1:3 KJV

Robyn’s Corner

We are delighted to bring back Robyn’s Corner to the Timeline.   It has been a while since Robyn last posted an article and we pray she will continue to do so.

Thank you, Robyn, for sharing some of the most difficult days of your life, which are helping people to more personally understand the faithfulness of the Lord.

Come as a Little Child ~ by Robyn Near

He called a little child and set him before them, and said, “I assure you and most solemnly say to you, unless you repent [that is, change your inner self—your old way of thinking, live changed lives] and become like children [trusting, humble, and forgiving], you will never enter the kingdom of heaven. Therefore, whoever [a]humbles himself like this child is greatest in the kingdom of heaven.
Matthew 18:2-4 Amplified Bible

The pictures I take on my phone are backed up to my Google account.  Every now and then it will bring up a collage of pictures with a caption saying, “Rediscover This Day!” Today’s collage took me by surprise and brought up a well of emotion while sitting at my desk at work.  I found myself looking at these pictures with tears in my eyes.

The date was March 9th, 2013.  The pictures were of my daughter Sammy smiling and making silly faces and of my son Zachary who was just a baby then but he had such a bright smile.

The well of emotion and the tears in my eyes weren’t for the time that had passed and how my children had grown, but for the recalling of our situation.  It was a reminder of where we were then; a reminder of where God had brought us out from; for His grace and unending goodness and faithfulness, and the incredible smiles on my children’s faces despite our situation.

Five years ago we were living not for the first time, but for the second time in a battered women’s shelter.  I had just started to come to know God.  I wasn’t walking with Him, but He was with me nonetheless.  He was pursuing me and His love was beginning to change me.  I was starting to hear that still small voice, even though I didn’t always listen, He was still speaking to me.  I was a part of so many wonders and miracles during this time that God gave me no choice but to believe in Him and trust Him!

I don’t know if any of you know what it’s like to stay in a shelter.  In this one we shared rooms with two sets of bunk beds per room and a bathroom shared with the room adjoined to ours with common areas, such as a kitchen and living room.  We were surrounded by other hurting and broken women trying to get out of their situation, just trying to make it, each of them handling it in their own way.

Some quiet, some so very angry and others in deep, deep pain. We shared chores like cooking and cleaning.  We went to what felt like endless meetings with staff members who were constantly with us.  We had curfews and new rules to follow.  I say all of that to point out how much of a change of life this was for everyone.  This was just our living situation, and thrown on top of it were mine and my kids’ personal fears, pain, and mixed emotions.

For me, I was beating myself up.  I had already been here once before with just Sammy. We had already walked through this and I thought I was so strong.  I thought I would never go back into this situation; I would never go back to her father.  I would not put myself or Sammy in such pain again, but I did.  Now I have another child with him and though I love Zach so very much, I was terrified how I was going to not only raise two children on my own but how would I provide for them.  My heart ached for my children. Would Zach ever know his dad?  Would they question themselves wondering if they were good?  Would they question why their dad didn’t love them enough to change and be around in their lives?  Would I be good enough for them in my broken state?

Sammy was in a lot of pain. She loves her dad so much despite how his anger started turning towards her with words of venom.  She didn’t understand why we couldn’t stay. She was angry at me for leaving again.  To her, I was breaking her dream of a “family.”  She wasn’t sure if she would ever see her dad again.  I’m sure she questioned if any of it was her fault.  I’m sure she questioned if she was loved and what her life was going to look like. Would it ever be good?  What is good?

When I took those pictures so long ago, we were in the backyard area of the shelter.  It was very narrow and had a very tall fence surrounding the little bit of grass it did have. When I looked at them I asked God how could my children be smiling and full of joy at that moment, in this situation?  He said, “Because you were with them, the same way I am with you.”  As I write these words, they have such a deep impact and meaning for me.  God’s grace in these times is so beautiful.

Sammy was being her normal goofy self, making silly faces and being lovely. Zach was his bubbly sweet self so happy to be a part of the fun.  How God?  How could my children be this way?  I felt God say “Because they trusted in you, Robyn.”  They had confidence in me and my love for them.  They looked to me, they trusted in me, they needed me and I loved them.  Who they were was not impacted by our situation because my love showed them there was more to who they are than this moment.  Even now as I write this, I am so thankful to God because He is confirming that in those moments I was and am good for my children.  I am enough.

This is the way we should look to God, the way we should come to Him, as little children in total and absolute dependence and trust in Him.  In confidence of His love knowing that no matter what the situation, we are loved more than we can understand.  We are safe, protected and provided for and can walk in absolute confidence because it is His love that defines us and not our current situation.

God does not leave us in our mess, but much like today, He makes it our message.

In Philippians 1:6 in the Amplified Bible it says,
I am convinced and confident of this very thing, that He who has begun a good work in you will [continue to] perfect and complete it until the day of Christ Jesus [the time of His return].

I don’t know what your situation is today but it is my hope that this message would encourage you to come to God as a child.  To look to Him and know despite what is going on He is not done!  He is faithful!  He works all things together for the good to those who love Him.  Seek Him in absolute dependence.  Look at Him in wonder as you ask, “How are you going to use this?”  knowing that He has a plan and a purpose for you for good and not for destruction!  We overcome by the blood of the Lamb and the word of our testimony!

If you are lost and hurting today, if you don’t know Jesus or even if you do, but you have forgotten who you are in Him and are tired of being defined by your situation and what everyone else thinks of you, I invite you to ask Him to show you who you really are. I invite you to ask Him to come into your heart and your life, to change every moment of desperation and failure into one of hope and love.  We have the victory over every situation in Christ Jesus.

I have told you these things, so that in Me you may have [perfect] peace.  In the world, you have tribulation and distress and suffering, but be courageous [be confident, be undaunted, be filled with joy]; I have overcome the world.”  [My conquest is accomplished, My victory abiding.]  John 16:33 Amplified Bible.

~A look back~

Any story sounds true until someone tells the other side and sets the record straight.  Proverbs 19:17 (The PTL Parallel Bible)

On March 19th 1987, after Jim Bakker’s embarrassing tryst was revealed to the world, he resigned from the PTL Ministry, turning it over to Rev. Jerry Falwell.  This dramatic news happened while we were getting ready to move from New York to Heritage USA.  It was also during this time when I received a huge vision from the Lord revealing He was going to RESTORE Jim Bakker.

From the day Jim Bakker trusted Rev. Falwell to temporarily take over the PTL Ministry in order to help him, a deluge of false reports, lies and accusations of missing money started to appear in the news every day about Pastor Bakker.  Within weeks Jim Bakker went from being a respected pioneer of Christian TV to being portrayed as a devious man, and Jerry Falwell made numerous TV appearances making many of these horrendous accusations.  At the same time Jerry Falwell decided that Jim Bakker could not be allowed to return to his ministry.

It was during that time when Harry Hargrave’s name became a startling revelation to a member in our church as the person who could help Jim Bakker.  Harry Hargrave was hired by Jerry Falwell as the new Chief Operating Officer at Heritage USA.

On July 29th 1987, when the PTL Ministry was in the process of going bankrupt, Harry Hargrave appeared on the PTL program to appeal to the viewers for money.  This happened because the entire PTL Ministry was in financial trouble and had filed for Chapter 13 bankruptcy that June and was in the process of reorganizing.  He also appeared on the show because the Associated Press (AP) disputed the claim of the PTL Ministry needing money.

For decades Jim Bakker has prayed for a total vindication from all the lies and false news reports tearing him apart and landing him in prison for 45 years in 1989.  Though Harvard Law Professor Alan Dershowitz won a court appeal for Jim Bakker that dramatically lowered his prison sentence, making it possible for him to be released from prison in 1994, he still has a stigma attached to his name and not allowed all the privileges of a free man.

Only the whole truth can set him free and it could very well be that Harry Hargrave is the man who holds the key to Jim Bakker’s total vindication.

The following is a clip from the PTL Show on July 29th:

Biblical signs of the times:

So roll up your sleeves, put your mind in gear, be totally ready to receive the gift that’s coming when Jesus arrives. Don’t lazily slip back into those old grooves of evil, doing just what you feel like doing. You didn’t know any better then; you do now.  As obedient children, let yourselves be pulled into a way of life shaped by God’s life, a life energetic and blazing with holiness.  God said, “I am holy; you be holy.”  1 Peter 1:13-16 (The Message Bible)

On the 1st, World Israel News reported: “Report: Kremlin gives Israel green light to attack Syria.”  The Kremlin has given Israel a green light to launch attacks in Syria on condition that Syrian President Bashar Assad’s assets are not targeted.

On the 4th, Fox News reported: “Guatemala volcano eruption leaves dozens dead, thousands forced to evacuate.”  Guatemala’s most violent eruption in more than 100 years sent lava flowing into rural communities, killing 25 people and sent emergency personnel scrambling to rescue those in the surrounding area.

On the 6th, Forbes.com reported: “Hawaii volcano; lava flow completely fills the beautiful Kapoho Bay.”  Hawaii’s Kilauea volcano claimed its latest victim, the picturesque Kapoho Bay as it filled the bay with molten lava flows.

On the 12th, the Jerusalem Post reported: “Analysis: U.S.-North Korea summit decoded.”  It’s no question that the US-North Korea summit was historic.  And it’s no question that any signs that can be seen right now are positive regarding where the process could go.

On the 17th, Fox News reported: “Japan earthquake kills 3 including 9-year-old girl; at least 40 injured.”  At least three people were killed – a 9-year-old girl and two men in their 80’s – and some 40 other people were hurt after a strong earthquake rattled the city of Osaka in western Japan on Monday morning, officials said.

On the 25th, Fox News reported: “A new supervolcano is brewing under Massachusetts, Vermont, and New Hampshire.”  Something unexpected has been gradually making itself known to geologists in the United States.  A huge mass of molten rock is creeping upwards beneath the nation’s northeastern states.

July/August/September 2018 Heritage Highlights

“Don’t imagine that I came to bring peace to the earth!  I came not to bring peace, but a sword.  I have come to set a man against his father, a daughter against her mother, and a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law.  Your enemies will be right in your own household!  If you love your father or mother more than you love me, you are not worthy of being mine; or if you love your son or daughter more than me, you are not worthy of being mine.  If you refuse to take up your cross and follow me, you are not worthy of being mine. If you cling to your life, you will lose it; but if you give up your life for me, you will find it.”
Matthew 10:34-39 (NLT)

~July~

MorningStar Ministries:  Before closing for their annual July sabbatical, Pastor Rick Joyner announced on Sunday, June 17th that the Towers court battle is continuing on after losing their long-awaited appeal.  He stated that York County is violating MorningStar’s constitutional rights and that is why he is taking the battle to the next level.

On the 26th, Rick Joyner appeared on the Jim Bakker Show #3523 and again explained where MorningStar Ministries stands in their battle with York County and the courts in relation to finishing the Towers.  He adamantly stated York County violated the ministry’s constitutional rights and has decided to fight its decision all the way to the Supreme Court, if necessary.

The Towers construction came to a halt in 1987 after Jim Bakker resigned from the PTL Ministry.  In 2004, Rick Joyner purchased 52 of the 2,000 plus acres that were part of the PTL property and included the Heritage Grand Hotel and the unfinished Towers.

When the school year of 2017-2018 ended, Dr. Jorge Parrott and Pastor Rick Joyner separated their respected ministries.  In a July letter to his supporters, Jorge Parrott wrote the following which read in part:

BIG NEWS!

“Your prayers and generosity make a huge difference.  You know CMM was founded in 1978 in Charlotte, NC, by Sidney and Helen Correll.  We are changing back to our original name of CMM.  Sidney was a real visionary, traveling to more than 100 nations.  The Corrells’ vision was to train, equip, and release national missionaries.  We continue to deepen relationships with our dear friends and family in many nations.  Please know that nothing changes with how we process and distribute your faithful gifts to your chosen missionary.  Donations and receipts will continue to be handled in the same way as before.

CMM and MORNINGSTAR’S GROWTH IS EXCITING!

CMM partnered with MorningStar Ministries and became Eagle Missions for several awesome years.  We love MorningStar and all our friends there.  We are thankful for Rick Joyner’s generous heart.  We have loved being a part of the ministry and we will continue to be friends.  CMM is growing and so is MorningStar!  This change will allow both ministries to thrive and do our parts to fulfill the Great Commission.
(Mark 16:15-18.)

Check out our College of Theology, entering our 12th year, at

Upper Room:  On July 14th, Russell James hung four prints over the prayer closets inside the Upper Room of the paintings that Pastor Jim Bakker commissioned Joseph King to create in the early 1980’s.

These exquisite prints were hung inside the Upper Room when the building first opened at Heritage USA in 1982, and went missing when PTL closed.  Copies of the paintings were recently donated to the Upper Room by Jim & Lori Bakker, Mondo De La Vega and Morningside Ministries in Blue Eye, Missouri.

The below 1982 picture is of Uncle Henry and Aunt Susan along with other guests that included *Pastor David Cho’s mother-in-law at the opening celebration of the Upper Room.  Pastor Jim Bakker personally invited her.

Setting up

Sharing the new office with CMM is The Obadiah Fellowship headed by Joe Shrewsbury.  This ministry brings prophetic people together to train for ministry around the world.

The Obadiah Fellowship

After a conversation with the Lord about 1 Kings 18 where the prophet Obadiah hid 100 prophets in two caves, Joe Shrewsbury created the Obadiah Fellowship. He believes his call is like Obadiah’s—to bring prophetic people together and train them how to discover their vision and purpose so they can move in power, speaking words that will transform culture and the world.

The Obadiah Fellowship is a journey of discovering where you belong in your mountain of influence, and how to get there. Not only will you be supernaturally changed, but you will also obtain the keys to help transform others.

Joe Shrewsbury is an elder in the gate of the prophetic and has been instrumental in opening the realm of a practical, hands-on prophetic ministry and lifestyle to hundreds of people for more than fifteen years. He specializes in equipping classes and seminars, coaching, mentoring, and open-venue teaching. Joe’s easy to follow teaching has awakened the gift of prophecy within churches around the world, equipping many for the first time as a true five-fold ministry.

Below: Joe Shrewsbury’s new training center

Not only is Joe Shrewsbury the Founder and CEO of the Obadiah Fellowship, but he heads up the Blue Water Leadership, which offers training to leaders in management and organizational performance and effectiveness.

September 11th Remembered

It has been seventeen years since the terrorist attacks on America and our entrance into the War on Terror, which has lasted these many years.

During the week of September 11th, video footage from the 2001 attacks on America aired on many of the major news networks.   Memorial services were held around the country to honor those who lost their lives on that fateful day reminding Americans how catastrophic these attacks were and why we should NEVER FORGET.

The following is a Fox News 18 minute video showing the strikes on the Twin Towers in New York City on the morning of September 11th, 2001 as they happened:

screen-shot-2016-09-25-at-6-41-11-pm

Below is a short video from the Jim Bakker Show that was taped on September 11th, 2018.  Pastor Jim explains that we are truly living in “Revelation Days. ”

Pastor Randy & Bonnie Hill

During the days following Hurricane Florence, Pastor Randy Hill of Gospel Tabernacle Church in Dunn, North Carolina, who formally pastored the Upper Room, sprang into action aiding the local community and surrounding counties that were affected.

By organizing a Distribution Center inside Gospel Tabernacle, Pastor Hill immediately received help from local churches as well as from students at a nearby college who volunteered with cooking, fixing hot meal boxes and unloading trucks of donated food and water.  Four large cookers were donated along with many boxes of frozen chickens.  Pastor Hill also received help from FEMA, local businesses, and people who dropped by with financial contributions.

Rev. Russell James, the owner of the Upper Room, rented a truck and delivered over 8,000 bottles of much-needed water to the church for immediate distribution.  Pastor Hill is now receiving food and daily necessities and quickly gets it out to those in need.   He also opened a drive-thru window where over 300 hot meals a day are served.  The Gospel Tabernacle has suddenly become a distribution center for the local communities surrounding Dunn, N.C.  They now have vans available to them, bringing hot meals to shelters in the area that provide a place to sleep but have no cooking kitchens.  It is amazing how fast this outreach came together.
For more information about Gospel Tabernacle check out their website at: https://www.gtchurch.net/

God bless Pastor Hill and all those who are helping people to get through this disaster.

Jim Bakker’s Morningside Ministries in Blue Eye, Missouri

On the 6th, Jim Bakker aired a powerfully enlightening show with Rev. Alveda King discussing, among other subjects, prison reform.  Pastor Jim mentioned how unfairly he was treated during his own 1989 trial and said that no one during the trial ever looked into the fact Heritage USA was stolen from him.

Note:  During the Jim Bakker Show #3547 which aired on 9/6/18, Pastor Jim starts speaking about his trial about 29-minutes into it.
Click the following link to watch:
https://www.jimbakkershow.com/watch/?guid=3547

During this show, Pastor Jim highlighted a 1999 book, Miscarriage of Justice, written by acclaimed Law Professor James A. Albert who studied his trial in depth.

The following is a statement from Amazon Books written after reviewing Miscarriage of Justice:

“Watched in more homes than Johnny Carson’s Tonight Show, Jim Bakker’s PTL Club was the most popular religious TV program of all time. But Bakker’s empire collapsed when he was indicted by a federal grand jury for television fraud. He was found guilty after a tumultuous five-week trial, then sentenced to 45 years in prison by presiding judge “Maximum Bob” Potter. Evidence of intentional fraud on Bakker’s part was weak. Videotapes of past PTL programs that would have helped Bakker’s defense were never seen by the jury. What the jury did hear about were million-dollar salaries, corporate jets, and air-conditioned doghouses. James A. Albert is a law professor, trial lawyer, an expert on broadcast law. He is not a Pentecostalist or a follower of Bakker’s. His curiosity piqued by strange and alarming details of the trial (including reports that the religious beliefs of some of Bakker’s witnesses were held up to ridicule in the courtroom), Professor Albert thoroughly investigated the Bakker story. He scrutinized 4,000 pages of trial transcript and conducted exclusive interviews with Bakker, the witnesses, lawyers, and jurors. The result is an exciting courtroom drama. At the same time, Albert tries to understand how someone who may well have been innocent of the crimes with which he was charged could have been brought so low.”

On the below link, Amazon gives you more information about Miscarriage of Justice.

Miscarriage of Justice on Amazon

Professor Albert’s foundation website describes him as follows:
Professor James A. Albert has been a Professor of Law for 38 years. He is nationally recognized and has won many awards, including being named Professor of the Year eight times at the Drake University Law School. He was named Delta Theta Phi Law Fraternity’s Outstanding Law Professor of the Nation four times. He has written several books, appeared on many national television programs including the “Today Show,” and appeared as himself in a Cinemax movie about one of his clients. Professor Albert has traveled to Belize 14 times to personally oversee the foundation’s scholarship program. He is a 1976 graduate of Notre Dame Law School, the father of twin sons, and the grandfather of 13-year-old twins.

By our very nature, we were subject to God’s anger, just like everyone else.  But God is so rich in mercy, and he loved us so much, that even though we were dead because of our sins, he gave us life when he raised Christ from the dead. (It is only by God’s grace that you have been saved!)  For he raised us from the dead along with Christ and seated us with him in the heavenly realms because we are united with Christ Jesus. Upper Room:

On the 6th, work continued on the Upper Room Parking Lot.  It has been a battle over the past year to make headway on completing it, but owner Russell James is making progress and hopes to have the parking lot graded by the end of the year.

The below pictures show new silt fences, which are anti-erosion barriers, being placed at the back and side of the property.  Please pray for this project to be completed without more setbacks.  When finished, there will be enough additional parking to accommodate more than 50 cars.

In the meantime, the full-time ministry continues without interruption.  To learn more about this ministry, check out the Upper Room’s website at; www.upperroomchapel.com or their facebook page at; https://www.facebook.com/groups/62147692320/

Towers

On the 16th, our local newspaper The Herald reported that MorningStar Ministries filed a Federal Lawsuit against York County and two former officials for violating their constitutional rights. The headline read:
“Owner of former Heritage USA ‘sacred tower’ sues York County over religious freedom.”
By John Marks
Updated November 16, 2018 12:04 PM

York County, SC – MorningStar Fellowship Church has sued York County and two former county leaders, claiming civil rights violations related to religious freedom over the church’s efforts to protect Heritage Tower near Fort Mill.
MorningStar, which owns the tower that was part of the former Heritage USA, filed the suit Wednesday in U.S. District Court in Rock Hill, alleging “hostile and discriminatory conduct” by the county.
The suit asks for a temporary restraining order and permanent injunction against York County, prohibiting it from “taking any action whatsoever to attempt to destroy” the 21-story Heritage Tower.
The suit alleges the county forced MorningStar to sign development agreements designed to put MorningStar in default and give cause to tear down the tower.

On the 29th, WBTV in Charlotte, N.C. reported: “MorningStar Ministries addresses discrimination lawsuit against York County.”
By Lauren Tostenson,  November 29, 2018, at 5:38 PM EST
FORT MILL, SC (WBTV) – Morningstar Ministries says they’re ready to develop the old Heritage Grand Tower.

“We’re ready to go. We’ve got the engineering, we’ve got the architecture, we’ve got the business plan,” said Morningstar Ministries President Rick Joyner.

What Morningstar doesn’t have are the permits, permits they claim are being blocked by York County, and after emails surfaced as part of an existing lawsuit, they’ve now filed secondary suit citing religious discrimination.

“It became clear with the illumination of some emails and other communication with county leadership that they were never intending to let us finish that tower,” said Joyner.

Upper Room Chapel,

On the 1st, Russell James, owner of the Upper Room Chapel, hosted the 8th Anniversary Celebration of his purchase and reopening the historic building.  This was another incredible year where countless people were able to be a part of all the services by either attending or watching them on their 24 hour a day live-streaming at www.upperroomchapel.com., and clicking the “live camera” tab.

Bishop Ron Lambright opened the celebration with prayer and Russell gave the annual year-end report that included a financial statement and his goals for 2019.  Finishing the parking lot has been an ongoing challenge, but he believes this coming year it will finally be completed.

The Special Guest Speaker this year was Jeff Park.  Jeff worked in PTL’s Missions Department overseeing the Prison Ministry, People that Love Centers and was a pastor in the Upper Room.

After all these years Jeff continues to work in ministry, now working for JAARS, which was founded in 1948, JAARS has helped make Bible translation possible, especially in the world’s most remote and difficult locations to reach.  From the JAARS Center in North Carolina, they design programs, develop solutions, train personnel, acquire and prepare equipment and engage people to help provide Transportation, Technology, Media and Training.

For more information about JAARS, check out their website at: https://www.jaars.org/

Afterward, everyone was invited to attend a luncheon that Russell prepares by himself each year.  It’s his way to thank all the volunteers who help him during the year with the maintenance and general upkeep of the building and grounds.

Tammy Faye from PTL days singing:
“Don’t Give Up On The Brink Of a Miracle”

Biblical signs of the times:

You should know this, Timothy that in the last days there will be very difficult times. For people will love only themselves and their money. They will be boastful and proud, scoffing at God, disobedient to their parents, and ungrateful. They will consider nothing sacred. They will be unloving and unforgiving; they will slander others and have no self-control. They will be cruel and hate what is good. They will betray their friends, be reckless, be puffed up with pride, and love pleasure rather than God. They will act religious, but they will reject the power that could make them godly. Stay away from people like that!
